the rain

the rain was started a few days ago, not much but enough to shower the earth. my wonderful little princes very excited when her father shows her the first rain. it wasn’t to cold, but that was enough to relieves hot at night. even though it is a difficult choice when I’ve asked whether i love rain or not? i can say that i love it because rain gives peaceful on earth but on the other hand, rain also brings disaster for some reasons. i hate when i go back from work in the afternoon in the heavy rain, since that was very dangerous to drove under the rain and the tree falls was always haunted you a long the way.

if i go back to two years ago, rain has different meaning to me. when you heard the rain hit the windows, it felt that you had been captured in a small chamber. you can seen the rain through the window and usually came with the heavy wind. not too scary, no fallen tree, no drove under the rain, no fear.

with little princes, i face the rain confidently, hopefully the little princess will loves the rain as i do. i also hope that she can be the rain that gives warm to the hot earth.

The power of famous five

Sebenarnya dikeluarga tidak ada budaya membaca yang kuat, tetapi entah mengapa sejak SD saya sudah berkenalan dengan perpustakaan dan suka sekali meminjam buku diperpustakaan sekolah, meskipun masih sebatas buku-buku cerita. Dan sejak dari SD saya selalu memiliki angan-angan ingin bersekolah ke luar negeri, tetapi saat itu belum tahu kemana tujuannya. Sejak masuk SMP yang lokasinya di pusat kota, kegiatan ke perpustakaan semakin meningkat terutama ke perpustakaan umum, dan disinilah saya berkenalan dengan pengarang novel anak-anak asal Inggris enyd blyton. Saya sering membaca koleksi enyd blyton terutama lima sekawan (famous five), bahkan saya selalu mencari edisi lima sekawan lainnya.

Meskipun tidak ingat secara pasti, novel lima sekawan mana yang saya baca pertama kali, tetapi saat itu yang muncul dibenak saya ketika membaca buku tersebut adalah bagaimana keceriaan, petualangan, dan keindahan suasana desa-desa di Inggris digambarkan melalui cerita-cerita. Bahkan ada cerita yang sangat menarik yakni kegiatan berkemah dibukut-bukit, bersepeda, misteri, dan piknik, kue-kue, acar bawang, ice-cream, dan kebandelan-kebandelan tentu saja. Diceritakan juga Inggris adalah negara yang menarik, hangat, ramah, dan penuh petualangan. Seringkali saya mendapatkan inspirasi dari cerita-cerita tersebut, kegiatan outdoor terutama, karena kebanyakan kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh lima sekawan adalah kegiatan luar rumah yang penuh dengan keceriaan.

Sampai saya menginjakkan kaki dibangku kuliah saya masih senang membaca-baca kembali karya-karya enyd blyton tersebut, ditambah dengan koleksi novel lainnya yang tidak kalah serunya. Dan ketika saya memiliki kesempatan untuk melanjutkan post-graduate program ke Australia, saya pun tidak ketinggalan untuk mengoleksi novel-novel enyd blyton dengan versi bahasa Inggris. menurut saya, ini akan menjadi bacaan wajib bagi anak-anak saya nantinya. Karena banyak hal yang ditawarkan oleh novel tersebut, dan imajinasi kita untuk melihat dunia luar sangat tergambar dengan jelas disini.

Tentu saja, ini adalah salah satu motivasi yang kuat untuk melihat dunia luar (apakah sama dengan yang ada dicerita), sekolah asrama dan kemandirian sangat kental disana. Enyd blyton memberikan motivasi tanpa lekang oleh waktu melalui cerita-ceritanya yang semuanya memberikan nuansa positif, dan sampai saat ini saya masih sangat berharap memiliki kesempatan untuk melanjutkan studi ke Inggris, dan merasakan petualangan ala lima sekawan.

pararel class

The new semester just begins, yesterday was my first day, I taught knowledge managemet A class. Today I also have KM class (again) but for B class. I teach Km twice a week. How does it feel? since I love this subject so far so I still enjoy to teach pararel class. I found many benefits from that, it’s not to noisy, the material is delivered well without unnecessary distraction that always comes in the big class. Each class consists of around 50 students and that is easy to handle. I hope in the discussion session in the next few weeks will run well.

In my opinion, 50 students in one class is a maximal number to get ideal class, you can focus to the class and material. Small class is easily to manage and control, but running pararle class is not an easy thing, you need extra energy to get the better result, good emotion management to avoid boring (because talking the same thing).

never turn off my laptop

Finally I’m sure that never turn off my laptop for a long period (a week or fortnightly) that will be ok. I always wonder that my action to never shut down my laptop will causes the system error or any other bad thing. But, I just read some threads from the forum that never turn off mac is ok and won’t hurt your mac.

Since I’m working with data and information, it seem impossible to turn on and off my laptop regularly (daily), because I need it 24/7, and it is very inefficient once I turn off my lapton, then I should start from the beginning, eventhoug mac is very fast loading. The only thing I do is, just close the laptop lid then the sleep mode will turn on. That will save the energy and you won’t ‘lost’ your previous works.

Damn hot

Today is very hot, everywhere, starting from the office, the air conditioning was off, then move to the home but it is still hot, now 8 pm and is raining outside, but inside is still bloody hot…

Twilight series

Just read first novel of twilight series indonesian version, called twilight. I interested with the book after watching a news program on TV taking about twilight the movie. Then I went to bookstore to buy twilight by Stephanie Meyer. The book cover is black with a picture of the main players from the movie version. When I read the book I feel no intention at all, there is no something new in it, something that makes the reader can’t stop reading, something that extraordinary. I think the story was so plain and usual, or maybe I’m old enough to read teenager stuff. I spent more than a week to finish (not totally finish actually) the book, compare to harry potter and deathly hallows that I read for three days. 

Maybe it is much better to see the movie instead, even though I haven’t seen the movie yet.
